ABOUT

Yiorgis Sakellariou (b. 1976) from Athens, Greece, started classical training on the guitar in 1990 and traditional greek music education and training on the oud in 1996. He was engaged with the band Oberon# for which he was writing music, lyrics and was performing on the electric guitar, keyboards and singing during the period 2000-2001. Yiorgis Sakellariou wrote his first purely electronic and computer-based music in 2002 and subsequently gave his first solo live performances as Mecha/Orga in 2003.

Apart from Greece, he has also performed live in The Netherlands, France, Germany, England, Belgium and Russia. He has been twice hosted by William English at Resonance FM in London (2006 and 2008) and by Asmus Tietchens and Margitt Holzt at Radio Gagarin (Hamburg, 2008).

He became member of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association in 2003, of the Centre of Contemporary Music Research in 2006 and of the organization Ear To The Earth in 2008. He has been writing about contemporary music in Highlights magazine since 2007. He is running the label Echomusic, established in 2004.
